The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. (Psalm 23:1-3) NIV
When was the last time your soul was refreshed? Have you ever had it refreshed? What was going on around you? Were you beside still waters? Were you lying down in green pastures? Continue reading
Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. (Psalms 12:1) NIV
Independence Day! Significant, yes! But what is the significance? To most it is a holiday, a day off work, a chance to sleep late, be lazy or catch up on housework, yard work, spend a day at the beach, leisure.
“A person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord” (Proverbs 16:2 NIV) Cleanliness is a state of being clean, fresh and pure. Most people prefer to be clean rather than dirty. This outward appearance is … Continue reading
The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing (Psalm 23 NIV)
No matter how bleak things seem, how frightened or worried, or hopeless the enemy tries to paint a picture in your life, it is a lie.
Friends fall sick, family passes away, husbands or wives walk away from a marriage, jobs are lost, cancer enters your life, homes are lost, children go astray, cars fail. Any number of things can happen in the blink of an eye, when you least expect it and life is dealt a blow that will have some long-term implications. Believe it or not, it is not as important what happens as it is how you deal with it.
“Saul replied, “I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel; come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord your God.” (1 Samuel 15:30) NIV
Have you ever met someone who you thought had an over inflated ego? Someone who had an enormous sense of self-importance? King Saul found himself in a situation where he placed more value on what the people thought of him than he did his role of being God’s anointed king and made a bad decision that ultimately cost him his kingdom.
The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. (Psalm 93:1) NIV
Turn on the news, listen and watch for a little while and you will begin to see a pattern emerge. Whatever channel, it is all the same. Fear, urgency, anger, disparity, death, destruction and issues over control. News flash…despite all the horror in the news, God is in control.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers”. ..(Psalms 1: 1-3) NIV
“Which yields its fruit in season”…The key to this is the in season part. Fruit does not yield itself all the time. It has to be in season. In order to bear fruit though, the tree or the vine must be taken care of. It must be watered, it must be fertilized and groomed and protected from the elements that will harm it.
If you have ever wandered on the meandering paths around an orchard or spent some time in a sunny vineyard then you will have been able to see first hand how much goes into bearing good fruit.
