Is Your Faith Contagious?

“Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”.  (John 4:48 NIV) Faith is the inflection point pivoting your relationship with Christ to expand and grow in ways that only Christ can determine.  It is … Continue reading

Identity Crisis

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—(Romans 6:6) NIV

Driving down the road and a song comes on…..listening brings an onset of nostalgia and before you know it, I am reliving some old memories and feeling emotions that I thought were buried in the past….how does that happen?  Why does that happen?

Help Always Comes..

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.. (Psalm 121: 1-2) NIV

There it is……..that old familiar consciousness slowly trying to take dominance in my reality.  Seizing every opportunity to invade my thoughts and feelings, to remind me of times in the past, to push doubt to the forefront and idealistic actions that I should be deploying as a defense mechanism.

Motivation

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.  (Hebrews 12:4) NIV

The Oxford dictionary defines the verb struggle as; to make forceful or violent efforts to get free of restraint or constriction.  Is this something that you can relate to?  Are you in a struggle? If so, is it a new struggle or something that is reoccurring?

The times that we find ourselves being bound by something whether it is a real situation, something that is taking place in our minds or with our emotions, it is this time that we need to reflect on our motivations. Continue reading

God’s Got This!!

God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5, NIV) Living by faith, not by sight, is a hard virtue to hone.  Why?  Because it involves every facet of our lives.  God created us … Continue reading

Breathe

Take a breath. Sit down and shake yourself free from the bombardment of thoughts and the assailment of feelings that are racking you right now.  Focus your thoughts on this……. Thank you God for being right here, right now in this moment to free me!!  Yes, thank you for my freedom!!

The Word say “ Cast all your cares on the Lord“ (Psalms 55:22).  Listen, Christ died so that we can be free (Galatians 5:1). The enemy wants to weigh us down and fill us full of thoughts focusing on all the negative things and fill us with anxiousness and angst.  We don’t have to be there.  Breathe……..

Kingdoms

Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.(Psalm 31:4)

Ever have one of those days where it seemed like the whole world was against you? Everything you went to do seemed to go wrong? Walked out the door, left your phone and realized it when you arrived to work? Forgot to stop at the gas station and end up on the side the road. Maybe there is an issue you have that you think will never be resolved or a relationship that has broken down.

Maybe you have been in a funk or feeling depressed about something that you just don’t understand or can’t put your finer on. Either way, if you are not feeling joy and happiness maybe you have fallen into a trap that the enemy has set for you. Continue reading

Emotive Impulses

“A person finds joy in giving an apt reply – and how good is a timely word!”  (Proverbs 15:23) NIVUK

There are things, emotions that stir inside of us…memories, thoughts of people from our past, longings, wishes, desires for a moment, for a time, a place, a glimpse or a touch.  Lingerings that languish inside with mystical savoring, what ifs, why nots, how comes, if only.

What’s On Your Mind?

Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. (2 Peter 3:1)

In a Bible Study group last year there was a member who cited the phrase “stinking thinking” and it caught on so that every time anyone would bring up something that was relative some one would recite it. Continue reading

The Guilt Trip

“let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water”.  (Hebrews 10:22) NIV

Guilt is a powerfully destructive emotion.  It is a sickness that creeps into the body’s crevices and rots it.  Since it is such a powerful and destructive emotion, it is one of satan’s favorite toys to play with.  He uses it to hold people captive and in-prisoned in a state of depression and unhappiness.  He can torture and torment the mind and poke holes into hearts.  He can poison self esteem and use it to make you feel unworthy and less than others.   Continue reading
